3 new national records have emerged from the matches held today (30) in the 58th Sri Lanka Army Athletic Championship organized by the Sri Lanka Army.
The tournament which started yesterday at Diyagama International Stadium was held for the second day today.
In the women’s 10000m race, Lance Corporal Madirika of the Sri Lanka Women’s Corps won the national record with a time of 49.25.97 minutes, while the male national record of the race was set by Lance Corporal Fernando of the Gajaba Regiment with a time of 45.12.22 minutes.
Meanwhile, Lance Corporal Janith of the Army Service Corps set a new national record in the men’s pole vault event by recording a height of 5.16m.
