In this year’s award ceremony, 738 students who excelled in various categories will be awarded.

Ms. Reshanthi Himalika Vithanage, who works as an English teacher at Mt. Lavinia St. Thomas College, has started the online class teaching system for the first time in Sri Lanka for children seeking Cambridge English qualifications in April 2020 with the aim of teaching children affected by the Covid situation.

Children from many parts of the island have gathered very quickly for the online class that was started with 50 children during the Covid period as the institution of Piliyandala Reshanthi Withana. Ms. Reshanthi Withanage quickly became popular among children due to her unique teaching methods used in teaching English.

The British Council of Sri Lanka (British Council) has evaluated her role on several occasions in 2023.

Accordingly, on March 17, 2023, in appreciation of her uniqueness and outstanding performance, the British Council has awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award which can be achieved once in a lifetime by a teacher, the Bronze Category Award, and the Driving Success Award.
