SriLankan Airlines and Korean Air launch new Codeshare partnership

SriLankan Airlines and Korean Air have officially activated a new codeshare partnership, offering expanded travel options and seamless connections for passengers traveling between Colombo and Seoul, effective from 15 March.

The collaboration allows SriLankan Airlines to codeshare on flights operated by Korean Air between Singapore and Seoul Incheon, enabling passengers to book single ‘SriLankan Airlines’ tickets for travel between Colombo and Incheon via Singapore.

Conversely, Korean Air passengers gain access to SriLankan Airlines’ extensive network in the Indian Subcontinent, with codeshare options available for flights between Colombo and Seoul Incheon, Singapore, Chennai in India, and Male in the Maldives.

While SriLankan Airlines currently operates a twice-weekly direct service between Colombo and Incheon, the codeshare agreement with Korean Air offers passengers daily flight options between the two cities via Singapore.

Richard Nuttall, Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, expressed delight in launching the airline’s first-ever codeshare partnership with Korean Air, highlighting the potential for growth and improved connectivity between Colombo and Seoul.

Tickets for codeshare flights are available for purchase through SriLankan Airlines’ and Korean Air’s online reservation systems, sales offices, as well as external travel agencies. Passengers can benefit from seamless connections, including through check-in and baggage transfer, for multi-sector journeys.

The commencement of the codeshare partnership marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between Sri Lanka and South Korea, offering passengers increased flight choices and a superior travel experience while strengthening ties between the two nations.
