According to political sources, a secret investigation is currently underway to find 10 MPs who have obtained foreign citizenship and are representing the Parliament in violation of the Constitution.
With a national newspaper reporting this today, many civil organizations have focused on finding and prosecuting the concerned MPs.
With the decision given by the Supreme Court to Mrs. Diana Gamage, a social discourse was created about MPs who hold foreign citizenship.
Civil organizations are of the opinion that if the MPs in question are misleading the people of Sri Lanka and have obtained parliamentary privileges by obtaining citizenship of another country, they should be charged to the government.
In addition to this, civil organizations have drawn the attention of the accusations that nearly 200 government officials, including heads of government institutions, have been made foreign citizens in violation of the state pledge in the Constitution.
