Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Crystalina Giorgio had a telephone conversation last evening regarding the current economic situation in the country.
The Prime Minister requested the IMF staff-level delegation to visit Sri Lanka as soon as possible and then conclude the staff-level agreement.
The Prime Minister explained that the financial relationship negotiations depend on the conclusion of an agreement between Sri Lanka and the IMF staff level.
The IMF Managing Director has expressed his willingness to assist Sri Lanka during these difficult times.
