Signs of impact on train services due to fuel shortage

The General Manager of the Railways Dhammika Jayasundara states that at present the Railway Department has only enough fuel reserves for a period of five days.

The General Manager of the Railways stated that about 100,000 liters of fuel are consumed daily to run the trains.

Dhammika Jayasundara says that the Railway Department has only enough storage facilities for 10 days. But he emphasized that at present only about 50 percent of it is available.

General Manager of the Railways Dhammika Jayasundara stated that despite the reduction in fuel reserves, it will not be a barrier to the operation of trains and that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has a system of purchasing fuel on a daily basis.
