The first batch of 1.6 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine donated from China was brought to Sri Lanka this morning and the plane carrying the remaining 600,000 is due to arrive.
SriLankan Airlines Special Cargo Flight 865 brought the consignment of one million doses to Sri Lanka at around 8.05 this morning from Beijing, China. The aircraft withremaining 600,000 is scheduled to land in Sri Lanka at around 10.10 am today, airport sources said.
However when arrived this consignment was late by few hours due to a bad weather condition in China. Thunderstorms delayed the loading of vaccines.
With this stock of vaccines, China has so far gifted 2.7 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine to Sri Lanka.
