    could Risk of rising Youth Unemployment to 30% due to the Pandemic

    Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Youth and Sports and State Minister of Digital Technology and Enterprise Development has stated that youth unemployment could rise to 30% due to the current global situation.

    He points out that youth unemployment fell to 4% in 2014 but has risen to 16% by 2019.

    He also said that talented youth should be created through a degree.

    The younger generation is moving towards modernity mixed with new technology. The Minister said that it was important to adapt to the world and that in the end, it was life, not the habits, that should be conquered.

    Although the prospect of any graduate is a good job, it is now the responsibility of the Minister of Education to correct the incompatibility of certain degree courses for any job, Mr. G. L. Peiris pointed out here.

    The ministers state this during the launching of the Official Website (www.cu.ac.lk) introducing the City University Program as a Concept and World Youth Skills Day Celebration – 2021 held by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat this morning (15).
