Two suspects have been arrested for breaking into the house of Ragama Faculty of Medicine Senior Professor N. K. Gunawardena located in Galaha, Gurukule, Nillamba and stealing property from the kitchen including a washing machine.
The complaint made by the professor stated that the theft took place between January 27 and March 10. During this time neither the professor nor any of the family stayed at home.
Yesterday (10th) when he came home in the morning, the professor saw how the theft had taken place by breaking a window of the house and entering the house. The professor has complained about this to the police yesterday.
Within a few hours of receiving this complaint, the police arrested two suspects. The stolen goods were found in the houses of the suspects.
Police say that one of the suspects is a hotel employee and the other suspect is a worker. The police say that both these suspects are neighbors of the professor.
