    Sri Lanka women’s cricket team qualifies for the T20 World Cup

    The Sri Lankan women’s team has qualified for the 2020 Women’s World Cup cricket tournament.

    The Sri Lankan players have qualified for the World Cup by winning the second semi-final match held yesterday in the T20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament held in the United Arab Emirates.

    Batting first in the match held in Abu Dhabi, the Sri Lanka women’s team managed to score 149 runs by losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

    Vishmi Gunaratne scored 45 runs and Harshitha Samarawickrama scored 24 runs and captain Chamari Athapaththu scored 21 runs.

    The United Arab Emirates team, which played the reply innings, managed to score only 137 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs.

    Esha Oza scored 66 runs and Chamari Athapattu took 02 wickets for 28 runs.

    Accordingly, the Sri Lankan team, which won by 15 runs, will enter the final match of the qualifying tournament against Scotland tomorrow.
