Putting the blame for fuel prices on Gammanpila is a sectarian act – Allegations from 8 government parties

Representatives from eight government parties have issued a joint statement condemning the attempt to shift the blame on Energy Minister for the decision to increase fuel prices.

The decision to increase fuel prices was taken by the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Cost of Living which met under the chairmanship of the President and with the participation of the Prime Minister.

In such a background, the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka People’s Front, MP Sagara Kariyawasam, has placed the blame for the decision on Minister Udaya Gammanpila and has plunged the government into an unnecessary crisis in front of the people.

The Presidential Media Unit had also confirmed that the increase in fuel prices was a government decision.

They further pointed out that such sectarian and immature actions will ultimately erode public confidence in the government.
