State Minister of Finance Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says that the government employee salary can be paid as scheduled on January 25th.
The Minister mentions that the salary of the executive officers of the public service will be given on the same day or with a delay of one day.
State Minister of Finance Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that out of the Rs. 93 billion spent on public employee salaries, Rs. 87 billion has already been allocated to pay salaries.
The expected revenue of the government in January is Rs. 145 billion.
The Customs and Excise Department has already said that their monthly revenue target will fall by around Rs. 10 billion.
The total expenditure of the government in January is estimated at Rs. 625 billion.
The Minister further said there is a deficit of Rs. 480 billion even though the prescribed income is earned.
