    Depression has moved into the country – More heavy rains

    According to the Department of Meteorology, the depression in the Southwest Bay of Bengal has entered Sri Lanka from the east and is passing through the island.

    Due to this, meteorologists indicate that more than 75 mm of rain may occur in most parts of the island, but more than 150 mm of heavy rain may occur in some places in East, Uva, Central, Sabaragamuwa, West and South.

    India’s Regional Specialized Meteorological Center said the depression over South West Bay of Bengal and the adjacent Sri Lanka coast moved west-southwest and centered at 1130 hours IST today (25).

    The center had given its location as follows.

    The meteorological forecast issued by the Sri Lankan Meteorological Department regarding the rainfall that may affect the country from today (25) morning to tomorrow (26) morning at 6.30 am is as follows.

    As of this morning, the highest rainfall in the past 24 hours had been recorded in the Pasikuda area. It was over 132 mm.
