Due to the heavy rain in the Dunuwila area of Alavathugoda, two of the three children have lost their lives who were buried under a mound of earth and a stone collapsed on a house.
The Alavathugoda Police, together with the local residents, launched an operation to find the three children buried under the mound of earth. The mother, father, two girls and a boy were rescued from the disaster and admitted to the Jambugaspitiya Hospital.
The doctor has confirmed that a girl and a boy have died there.
An injured girl was transferred to Peradeniya Hospital for further treatment.
The deceased girl is 18 years old, and the deceased boy is 16 years old, residents of Dunuwila area.
Alavathugoda police are conducting further investigations.
