    Pregnant nurses receive full leave

Dr. Hemantha Herath, Deputy Director-General of Health Services, Ministry of Health, said that pregnant women who are engaged in nursing service are entitled to a full leave of three months before childbirth.

Pregnant nurses can work for the first six months and are employed in places where there is a low risk of covid and dengue, he said.

The Health Secretary has issued another circular amending the circular issued earlier regarding the leave of pregnant nurses and accordingly, every nurse will be entitled to a full leave three months before giving birth, said Dr. Hemantha Herath.
