The Badulla police today arrested a three-wheeler driver involved in stabbing to death a mother and daughter and attempting to stab to death one of the daughters inside an estate house in the Higurugamuwa section of Badulla Ganalpin estate.
The double murder happened on the 10th. There an 83-year-old mother and a 56-year-old mother were killed and a 62-year-old daughter was injured.
The officers of the Badulla Police who conducted investigations in this regard arrested a 33-year-old three-wheeler driver who is a resident of Weeriyapura, Badulla.
Investigations revealed that the suspect had asked for a loan of Rs. 20,000 from the murdered daughter and she was killed for not giving it. The police say that before the murder, he scared the two women and took the gold jewellery they were wearing and the police found them while they were pawned.
