Recently, an incident was reported of a senior army officer kicking a young man near a fuel station in Yaggahapitiya area. The Army has taken steps to remove the concerned officer from all duties until the related investigations are completed.
It was based on the instructions given by the Commander of the Army Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage.
A step has been taken to suspend that military officer from all duties with immediate effect until the recommendations of the court are received.
Moreover, an investigation is also being conducted by the Sri Lanka Army Police Force regarding the related incident.
