A special gazette notification has been issued extending the term of office of members of local government bodies until March 19 next year.
The gazette notification was issued yesterday (10) by Janaka Bandara Tennakoon, Minister of Public Service, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.
Accordingly, the term of office of members of 41 small Municipal Councils, 24 Main Municipal Councils, and 275 Pradeshiya Sabhas will be extended by one year.
