The Association of Specialist Physicians has called on the government to impose stricter travel restrictions to curb the spread of covid, as the existing travel restrictions are inadequate.
If the strict travel restrictions are not implemented soon, the country will have to face unprecedented consequences, said Dr. Lakkumar Fernando, President of the Association of Specialist Physicians.
He requested all religious leaders, civil society organizations as well as the general public to impose self-travel restrictions if they are not to fall ill or infected.
Mr. Lakkumara said that although the closure of shops and businesses was an obstacle to making a living, the most important thing at this time is to live and therefore the best option was self-protection.
