    People’s Bank’s 60 Year History Book was presented to the Prime Minister

    People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapaksa presented the History Book compiled by People’s Bank today (16) to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees this afternoon.

    The book also covers People’s Bank’s significant contribution to the Sri Lankan economy over 60 years and the Chairmen, CEOs and General Managers who worked for the Bank’s development during that time. In its 60-year history, People’s Bank deals with 14 million people and maintains 18 million accounts.

    People’s Bank, a pioneer in digital banking in the country, has a balance sheet of Rs. 2.3 trillion. People’s Bank has 8000 employees and has 748 branches throughout the country.

    Presenting the book, Chairman Sujeewa Rajapaksa briefed the Prime Minister on the steps taken by the People’s Bank since its inception and its gradual evolution to carry out continuous service to the country for over 60 years. People’s Bank Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Ranjith Kodithuwakku and Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister Chaminda Kularatne were also present.
