The Colombo Epidemiology Unit reports that over 500,000 people who received the first dose of the AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine have not yet received the second dose.
The first dose was given to 925,241 and the second dose was given to 385,885, according to the data.
Accordingly, the number expected to receive the second dose is 539,357, according to the Colombo Epidemiology Unit.
Some health experts say that some people who have taken the first dose of the Covishield vaccine have not yet received the second dose even after 4 months.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka recently announced that 14.5 million Covishield vaccines will be provided to Sri Lanka under the Covacs facility.
The Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka stated that the consignment will be delivered to Sri Lanka in about two weeks.
