A tsunami warning has been issued due to a powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan.
Accordingly, residents of the coastal Noto area of Ishikawa Prefecture were asked to “immediately evacuate to higher ground,” the country’s NHK TV station said.
The authorities have warned that waves up to 5 meters high may occur in the Noto region.
Meanwhile, Japanese authorities said they have also issued tsunami warnings for neighbouring Niigata and Toyama cities, where waves could reach 3 meters.
