Despite the rules of the Inspector General, Caesars are still lifting vehicles

The Association of Leasing and Loan Installment Payers accuses the Caesars of taking over vehicles with the help of the police, despite the Inspector General of Police passing a new law that the leasing companies cannot forcibly take over the vehicles of their customers.

Mr. Asanka Ruwan Pothupitiya, President of the Leasing and Loan Installment Payers Association, said that more than fifty police stations across the country have recently seized vehicles in violation of the new law of the Inspector General and the Lease Financing Act of 2000.

Mr. Asanka Ruwan Pothupitiya said that the Inspector General of Police arrested Caesars who hijacked vehicles within a few months after the new law was passed, but recently the police did not arrest Caesars and only filed cases against them.

He mentioned that after several sessions of litigation, the leasing companies sell or auction the stolen vehicles and thus, the owners of the vehicles are very helpless.

He also mentioned that his association has even complained to the Inspector General of Police regarding the malpractices in some police stations.
