The trade unions of the institute allege that the chairman of the National Transport Medical Institute, which belongs to the Ministry of Transport, is still in office.
Although the government has informed the presidents and board members of all government institutions to resign from their positions, the unions state that despite the order, the president of the National Transport Medical Institute still remains in office.
The union states that Transport Minister Bandula Gunawardena has also given a verbal notice to the chairman of the National Transport Medical Institute to resign.
The trade unions also state that the chairman is staying in the position using force while enjoying the privileges of that position.
