The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs says that even though it was reported earlier that Sri Lankan Muslims will not be going to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage due to the current dollar crisis, the idea has now changed.
Accordingly, a group of 1585 pilgrims is scheduled to leave for Mecca for the Hajj this year.
It is said that this decision was taken after a discussion with the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickremanayake.
