“It doesn’t matter if I don’t get votes, I will save the country’s children from alcohol”

Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition and the leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, says that a serious political gamble is taking place through the granting of liquor licenses.

He said that even if money is obtained through this, it will not benefit the country, the people and the youth.

He reveals that today tobacco companies have become powerful and these companies take any powerful person for money and evade the proper taxes that they have to pay to the government.

The leader of the opposition said that politicians should open up giving equipment to hospitals and talk openly about the harm caused by alcohol and drugs.

The opposition leader said that just because they have the power of money, they not only use it to evade taxes but also send the people of the country, children and youth to their deathbeds.

Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said these during the 60th phase of the ‘Husma’ program, held in Mahara Malwatu Hiripitiya Hospital. The hospital received Rs. 1,300,000 worth of Mini Autoclav 1 and Pulse Oximeter 1 donations.
