Harbor Master Nirmal de Silva has instructed all sections to prevent the ship carrying organic fertilizer containing harmful bacteria from entering the port premises.
The Plant Quarantine Service Center has informed the Port of Colombo that the ship is currently approaching the Port of Colombo.
Harbor Master Nirmal de Silva says that such a ship has not yet requested permission to enter the Port of Colombo. He also emphasized that a ship could not enter a port at will without prior permission and without proper permission.
The Plant Quarantine Service Center states that the ship has 20,000 metric tons of organic fertilizer.
Ceylon Fertilizer Company has obtained an enjoining order from the Colombo Commercial Court blocking the payment to the Chinese company regarding the organic fertilizer containing the relevant bacteria.
