Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana has stated that doctors have not yet recommended the country to be shut down to control the COVID 19 epidemic and that the government is ready to do so if doctors recommend the country to be shut down.
He points out that the government makes all decisions based on the advice of medical experts. This was stated by the Minister of State Prof. Channa Jayasumana while addressing the media in Anuradhapura.
“There is an epidemiology unit, there is a Presidential Covid Task Force, also, there are various academic institutions and trade unions that work outside it. Then we are bound to implement the official recommendations given to us. But there are some people who work as cats in political forces. They want to overthrow the government. If we receive official advice and recommendations from the health sector to cover the country, we will not hesitate to implement it. And people who live on a daily basis need to have a methodology.” The Minister of State said.
