Cabinet approval has been received to hand over the management of the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport to two companies from Russia and India.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to transfer the project to India’s m/s Shaurya Aeronautics (pvt) Ltd and Airports of regions management company of Russia or to an affiliated enterprise thereof for a period of thirty years.
According to the approval given in the Cabinet meeting held on 9-1-2023, 5 institutions have expressed their ambitions for calling expressions of interest from interested parties for using the facilities of Mattala International Airport.
