The Wellawaya Police have arrested 08 people, including a constable
police driver attached to the Sevanagala Police Station in connection with a conflict between brothers and sisters of the family based on a land dispute.
The police constable’s sisters, brother, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law have been arrested.
A conflict that occurred during the surveying process to share a land inherited from the father has led to the arrest of the family members including the police officer.
These 08 people were arrested yesterday evening. The conflict has occurred on the last 02nd. There has also been a stabbing. Four sisters and brothers-in-law and two brothers were injured and hospitalized.
The Wellawaya Police say that they conducted an investigation in this regard and called the group to the police station and arrested them. These 08 suspects were to be presented to the Wellawaya Magistrate’s Court today.
