Brigadier Nilantha Premaratne says that reports saying that Brigadier Anil Somaweera has been suspended while on duty during the recent situation near the Prime Minister’s Office are false.
He mentions that Brigadier Anil Somaweera has been called to the Army Headquarters for another duty.
However, no decision has been reached regarding the new position.
A video of a conversation between the protesters who came to the Prime Minister’s office and Brigadier Anil Somaweera was circulated on social media, in which he stated not to shoot at the protesters.
