Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles requested Retired Maj. Gen. Jagath Alwis and also informed the President to make Jagath Alwis remain in the post of Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security.
Accordingly, Mr. Jagath Alwis will continue to serve as the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry sources said.
Jagath Alwis announced his resignation last evening by removing his personal belongings from his office at the Ministry.
The secretary had said he would resign to give the new minister a chance to appoint a suitable secretary.
However, the resignation was rejected and the Secretary resumed his duties today.
