Showers are expected in the North, North-Central, Eastern and Uva Provinces and in the Matale District from tomorrow (02)night to 4 pm, the Meteorological Department said.
Heavy showers of more than 100 mm are expected in some parts of those areas during this period.
Showers will occur at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Matale district today.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Galle, Matara, Ratnapura, Kalutara and Nuwara Eliya districts during the evening or night. Heavy showers over 50mm are also possible in some places.
Winds will increase up to 40 kmph at times in the Uva and North Western provinces and in the Batticaloa, Ampara, Hambantota and Matale districts.
The Meteorological Department kindly requests the public to take necessary measures to reduce the risks of temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
