Medical Administrator appointments cannot be made due to GMOA pressure

The Sri Lanka Medical Administrators’ Association alleges that they have not been able to make appointments for qualified medical administrators due to pressure from the Government Medical Officers’ Association.

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) is of the unlawful opinion that anyone with a postgraduate degree or diploma can join the medical administration, said Dr. Arjuna Tilakaratne, President of the Sri Lanka Medical Administrators’ Association.

He added that there are currently 117 vacancies for Deputy Medical Administration, Senior Medical Administration, and Deputy Director General in the health sector.

He also said that these problems have arisen due to the narrow-minded activities of several members of the Government Medical Officers’ Association.
