The Development Officers’ Association requests the Government to incorporate Development Officers into the Teacher Service to fill teacher vacancies in schools throughout the country.
At present there are nearly 60,000 vacancies for teachers throughout the country and the government is requested to absorb the development officers attached to schools in filling those vacancies, said the Secretary of the Development Officers’ Service Association, Chandana Sooriyarachchi.
Mr. Sooriyarachchi also requested that the teaching vacancies be filled by giving teaching appointments to the officers who are working as Development Officers in National Schools and Provincial Schools and to the newly recruited graduates to the Public Service.
