    Sports Minister Namal fly to Japan to attend the opening ceremony of the Olympics

    Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa, who was invited to the opening ceremony of the Twenty20 Summer Olympics, has left for Japan today (21).

    Minister Namal Rajapaksa has stated on his social media accounts that he is leaving for Japan to encourage the Sri Lankan athletes at the Olympics as well as to attend the inaugural ceremony.

    The 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics are set to begin tomorrow (23). Athletes from many countries have already arrived at the Tokyo Olympic Village.

    Following is the statement made by Minister Namal Rajapaksa on his Facebook account before leaving for Japan.

    “We are preparing to leave for Japan to represent Sri Lanka in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics and to encourage Olympic athletes representing our country.

    I also look forward to participating in a number of bilateral discussions with officials of the International Olympic Committee and Japanese Government officials.

    Let’s unite as a country to encourage our own athletes who want to do their best for the country at the Tokyo Olympics! ” It says.
