The non-academic staff of the state universities have decided to go on a symbolic strike for two days.
Accordingly, the Joint Committee of University Trade Unions stated that the strike will be implemented today (28) and tomorrow (29).
If the relevant authorities fail to provide solutions to their problems within a week, the committee asks to take continuous professional action.
The striking unions are seeking solutions to their various demands, including increasing the monthly compensation given to university non-academic staff.
It was also reported that the examinations of many state universities such as Sri Jayawardenepura University, North West University, Colombo University, which were scheduled to be held today and tomorrow, have been canceled amid the ongoing strike.
