    Camillus, Who Created Many Popular Cartoon Characters Including Gajaman, has Passed Away

    Mr. Kala Keerthi Camillus Perera, who was an expert cartoonist, passed away today (17).

    Born on December 1, 1939, Kurukulasuriya Eligius Camillus Perera was 84 years old when he died.

    He married Consilia Fernando in 1969 and had two children named Mayuri Perera and Gayan Perera.

    In 1964, he started his cartooning career from Sarasaviya newspaper and created many cartoons for various newspapers, including “Thepanis”, “Dong Sethang”, “Simona”, “Siribiris”, “Dakkoth Pathmavathi”, “Sellan Sena”. In 1975, he launched a newspaper called “Siththara”, with Chinthana Jayasena.

    After some time in 1986, he started his own business called Camillus Publication. Through that, together with Gajaman, he managed to add many newspapers named “Sathsiri”, “Siwudesa”, “Sammana”, “Dinki”, “Punchi Batithi”, “Rusiya”, “Jagatha”, “Hapana”, and “Sishshyathwa” to the market.

    Gajaman, the first 3D animation film in Sri Lanka, was created from Mr. Camillus Perera’s Gajaman and other cartoon characters.
