A team of officers from the Special Investigations Department of the Criminal Investigation Department today subjected the documents of the Ministry of Health’s medical supply department to a strict scrutiny.
It is related to the investigation related to fraud by supplying HUMAN IMMUNOGLOBULIN antibody vaccine to the medical supply department of the Ministry of Health using fake documents without proper procedure.
In this regard, the Criminal Investigation Department arrested the four persons namely Director of the Medical Supply Division, Kapila Wickramanayake, its Deputy Director Solomon Vashiharan, Accountant of the Supply Division Niran Dhananjaya, and the Stock Controller Sujith Wasantha Kumara yesterday.
These four suspects were produced before Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court and remanded until the 29th.
Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Mr. Nihal Thalduwa mentioned that this investigation has been initiated regarding 05 complaints received by the Criminal Investigation Department. Mr. Nihal Thalduwa also said that 13 persons identified in connection with it have been banned from traveling abroad.
