Pastor Jerome will not be Arrested

The Court of Appeal has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department not to arrest Pastor Jerome Fernando at the airport upon his return to Sri Lanka, who is currently abroad.

The Court of Appeal has also ordered that he should give a statement to the Criminal Investigation Department within 48 hours after his return to the island.

According to a complaint received by Pastor Jerome Fernando during a service on April 30th, regarding a statement that created tension between religions, a legal situation arose against him.

The petitioners had alleged that the pastor in question had seriously insulted Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic religious beliefs through the statement.
