Specialist Dr. Samitha Ginige has been appointed as the Acting Chief Epidemiologist of the Ministry of Health.
Until now he has been the Deputy Epidemiologist at the Colombo Epidemiology Unit.
Mr. Ginige entered the medical profession in 1994 and has been a specialist physician since 2007.
He has been working in the Colombo Epidemiology Unit for more than 15 years.
He was appointed as the Deputy Chief Epidemiologist in 2019.
Previous Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera has been appointed as the Director of the Dengue Control Unit.
