A farm manager who secretly sold 1200 chickens was arrested

The Police, investigating the theft of 1200 broiler chickens worth over Rs. 1.6 million from a farm in Badalgama, have arrested the manager and assistant of the farm today (21) in connection with this theft.

The police say that the manager is a retired army officer residing in Ipalogama, Anuradhapura, and his assistant is a retired navy officer and a resident of Jambugaspitiya, Kandy.

Police say that there are about 40,000 chickens in this farm. The police say that for a long time, this manager and his assistant have been engaging in fraud by secretly stealing away chickens from the farm. The management of the farm had no doubts about this as the farm has a large number of chickens. Therefore, both of them have had the opportunity to engage in this fraudulent activity for many years.

Meanwhile, according to information received from a buyer who buys chickens from the farm on a monthly basis, the management has started an internal audit about this fraud. It has been revealed that between the last 7th and 13th, 1200 chickens have been sold by these two.
