An unmarried girl who came to Teripaha Hospital to be treated for an abdominal problem gave birth to a baby in the hospital toilet yesterday.
Without telling the doctors about it, the girl secretly left the hospital with the baby and left the baby in the toilet of her sister’s house.
Information about this was revealed when a woman saw blood in the toilet where she gave birth and told the doctors about it.
The doctors sent a family health officer to the house where the woman lived based on suspicions that arose while examining the stains. She was staying at her sister’s house. During the examination done by the family health officer, it was found that she had put the newborn baby in the toilets of her sister’s house.
According to a notification to the Teripaha police, the police officers recovered the baby’s body from the toilets. The police say that the woman is currently receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya Hospital.
