According to the Department of Population and Statistics, the inflation which was 61% in November based on the Colombo Consumer Price Index has decreased to 57.2% in December.
Also, the food inflation which was 73.7% in November has decreased to 64.4% in December, said the department.
Minister of State for Finance Mr. Shehan Semasinghe said, “The economy has entered the path of stabilization due to the challenging decisions taken by the government. Year-on-year inflation has come down from 61.0% to 57.2% in November to December 2022 and food inflation has come down from 73.7% to 64.4%. But we still have a long way to go with determination.”
