    STF drone operation raids cannabis farm in Suriyaara Reserve

    The Police Special Task Force yesterday succeeded in raiding a cannabis farm that had been carefully and secretly cultivated in the Suriyaara government reserve area, Nika Lake, Thanamalwila police domain.

    According to the Police Special Task Force, a plantation with 6,760 cannabis trees of height 05 feet and 06 inches was raided.

    Police Special Task Force states that 10 cannabis trees were handed over to Thanamalvila Police Station as samples for further investigations. The rest of the cannabis trees were set on fire and destroyed.

    The police special task force has conducted this raid by using drone cameras to monitor the places where cannabis trees are located.

    The raid was carried out by a team of officers including Inspector D. M. G. R. Weerasinghe according to the orders and instructions of Special Task Force Commander DIG Attorney Varuna Jayasundara, under the supervision of Zonal Commander Senior Superintendent of Police and Mr. H. A. V. Dissanayake, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. I. S. T. Perera, the second base commander of the Special Task Force Suriyawewa Camp.
