Gas will arrive in 2 weeks – Still no date for the arrival of a fuel tanker

Chairman of Litro Gas Muditha Peiris said 02 gas ships are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka between July 5 and 12.

According to the supplier, two ships of 3,700 metric tons each, which is 7,400 metric tons, will be delivered on these dates, he said.

Accordingly, if the ships arrive on time, the gas supply could be expected from the 7th, he said.

The Chairman further stated that discussions have been held with the supplier to continue importing up to 100,000 metric tons of gas for four months.

Meanwhile, Minister of Energy Kanchana Wijesekera has called on the public to refrain from queuing up to buy fuel.

This is due to the inability to announce the exact arrival dates of the ships carrying fuel and crude oil which were scheduled to arrive in the country.

Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera has stated that the fuel and crude oil tankers have been delayed due to banking and supply problems.

Until next fuel ships arrive at Sri Lankan ports and finish landing fuel will be distributed giving priority to public transport, power generation, and industry, the Minister said.

Due to this, the limited stocks of diesel and petrol will be distributed throughout the next week only to some limited places.

The Sapugaskanda refinery was also closed yesterday due to a shortage of crude oil.
