    US $ 55 million loan from India to buy urea for Yala season

    The Ministry of Finance has signed an agreement with EXIM Bank of India to obtain a loan of US $ 55 million to meet the immediate demand for urea during the Yala season.

    The agreement was signed in fulfillment of a loan facility requested by the Government of Sri Lanka from India to import 65,000 MT of urea fertilizer.

    Secretary to the Ministry of Finance Mr. Siriwardena on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka and Mr. Nirmith Narendran Wade, General Manager, EXIM Bank of India have signed the loan agreement.

    Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Mr. H.E. Gopal Bagle was also present at the occasion of signing the agreement.
