    A container of apples stuck in the harbor was handed over to the zoo

    An apple container that has not been released from the Colombo harbor for several months has been handed over today as a solution to the food shortage of animals kept at the Dehiwala Zoo.

    The Apple container was imported from China last February. According to the Ports Authority, the stock of apples in it weighs 24,000 kilos. It is estimated that there are more than 100,000 apples in the apple container worth over 20 million rupees.

    Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation has taken steps to hand over the stock of apples to the Dehiwala Zoo as the owner had not released the container from the port.
