Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardane said Samba rice would be sold at Rs. 125 a kilo during the upcoming festive season.
He said this while addressing a function in Elpitiya.
“I noticed the lowest price of Samba rice has been cited as Rs.160 a kilo and Nadu rice at Rs.125 a kilo. Howvere, at SATHOSA outlets, Supiri Samba is sold at Rs.128 a kilo, Nadu at Rs.105 a kilo and Kekulu rice at Rs.105. If anyone wants, we have no objection to purchasing Samba rice Rs.160 a kilo at supermarkets. Yet I take up the challenge of providing it at Rs.125 a kilo at SATHOSA,” he said.
