Veteran singer Desmond de Silva has passed away.
He was 77 years old at the time of his death.

Around the country, he was extremely popular with a number of songs such as ‘Yanna Rata Wate’, ‘Chuda Manike Balala’, ‘Irene Josephine’, ‘Suwandak Danewi’, ‘Banjo Rabane’, ‘Sumihiri Paane’.
He is also the lead singer of Hector Dias’ cover song ‘Nilvan Muhudu Theere’ which recently captured the hearts of the people.
